Answers

Frequently asked
questions.

Power off your system and unplug it. Locate the M.2 slot on your motherboard, remove the retaining screw, insert the SSD at a 30° angle until it clicks, press it flat and secure with the screw. For PCIe 5.0 drives, ensure your motherboard has a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot.

Check that the drive is seated in the correct PCIe generation slot. Update your motherboard BIOS and chipset drivers. Ensure the drive isn't nearly full — SSDs perform best with 10–20% free space. Run HIKSEMI Storage Manager to check drive health and update firmware.

TBW (Terabytes Written) is the total data that can be written before the NAND wears out. For everyday use, a 1TB HIKSEMI SSD with 600 TBW would last over 30 years writing 50GB per day. Our PCIe 5.0 drives feature industry-leading TBW ratings.

Restart your PC and enter BIOS (usually Del or F2 at startup). Look for XMP (Intel) or EXPO (AMD) in memory settings and enable it. Save and exit. Your RAM will now run at its rated speed. If your system is unstable, try a lower XMP profile first.

While mixing RAM brands is technically possible, we recommend using matched kits for best stability and to ensure XMP/EXPO profiles work correctly. Mixed configurations may default to lower JEDEC speeds. For dual-channel, use identical capacity modules in matching slots.

The Video Speed Class (V rating) defines the minimum sustained write speed: V10 = 10 MB/s, V30 = 30 MB/s, V60 = 60 MB/s, V90 = 90 MB/s. For 4K video recording use at least V30; for 8K or high frame-rate 4K use V60 or higher.

For surveillance cameras, choose a card rated for high endurance and continuous write cycles — our Surveillance series microSD cards are designed for 24/7 recording and extreme temperatures. Match capacity to your camera's resolution and desired recording duration.

Contact our support team via the Contact page with your product serial number, proof of purchase, and a description of the issue. Our team will verify eligibility and initiate an RMA within 1 business day. Keep the original packaging to facilitate the return.

Most laptops support M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs. Check your laptop specs for the supported interface (PCIe 3.0, 4.0, or 5.0) and form factor. Our compatibility tool in the Downloads section lets you search by device model to find the right HIKSEMI SSD.

Download the Compatibility List PDF from our Downloads section, or use the online compatibility checker tool. The list is updated monthly and covers major motherboard brands (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock) and popular laptops. Contact support for specific queries.
